The small heritage town of Esk, named after the River Esk in Scotland & England, population about 1150, is situated in the Brisbane Valley 110km NW of Brisbane & 70km NW of Ipswich. Esk is the administrative center of the Somerset Regional Council which encompasses the former Shire of Esk which stretched from the Lockyer Valley north and west to the Great Dividing Range and up the Brisbane River valley.
